the backfire is caused by incorrect timing. the engine is firing at the wrong point and causes loss of power and can ruin the carburator or injector system. you may also have a hole in the exhaust, or a blown exhaust gasket which makes it sound loder.

Yeppers on MORE info - Backfiring from the tail pipe ? From the carb or throttle body - etc.etc.On acceleration? - just cruising ? etc.etc.

Probably your timing is off. That will cause backfiring. But you do not give enough information. More symptoms PLEASE!

Could be lots of things...Cracked exhaust for example...We need DETAILS.
