I don't think they are becoming extinct. I think it's a matter of preference. We will eventually get some good writers to bring us great sitcoms like Cheers, Cosby show and Seinfeld.
Plus you really have to go beyond ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS to find stuff. Try CW (UPN) or even HBO (with Entourage).
They might not be knee slapping funny, but there are some good ones still out there.

Yeah, good sitcoms are hard to find and reality tv is everywhere. I'm personally tired of seeing reality shows on everything from a to z and it seems like every celebrity and their mom has their own reality show.

What'll happen is another sitcom will come along that takes off like "Friends" or "Seinfeld" and suddenly everything network will be trying to come up with the next big (copycat) sitcom.

It seems that reality T.V sells. That's why every network out there has at least one. And they disguise them in all different forms. They make me sick-most of them at least. And there are sitcoms out there, but it also seems the second they are released they have to be prime time for them to make it. Otherwise the rest of them seem doomed because reality T.V. has taken over. It makes me sick and disappointed in America that there are so many people out there that spend their time interested in that crap.

Yeah, I agree. Now that Frasier, Will & Grace, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond is gone, all the sitcoms on TV nowadays are retarded and so annoying. I wish they would all go away....

True indeed...I miss shows like The Cosby Show. In my opinion it's one of the best sitcoms ever!

Only when people stop watching those stupid reality shows will we get something better. Reality shows are cheap to produce, and lots of people must be watching, or they would not be making so many.
