Tips for plucking: Boil water and put towel over head. Steam fac to open pores and make plucking easier. Shape brows using brow brush. Pull skin taunt and pluck unwanted hair.
I pay $10 and go to a salon and get my eyebrows waxed. They look so nice and well shaped and even afterwards. I go once every two weeks. The home waxing strips are good too.

For a start, tweezing shouldn't hurt - there should be no need to 'numb them'.
The only useful tip I was ever given is that you never shape your eyebrows by plucking from above the eyebrows. Tweeze above strays by all means, but only shape them from below.
Pluck the strays before you start shaping them. Get someone to help you if need be. Infact, you could always go to a beauty salon to get them done.
And if you do tweeze them, buy some decent expensive tweezers. You'd be surprised how much difference it makes!
Good luck! :)

Get them professionally waxed, it usually is under 10 bucks and will last for months.

If you pluck your eyebrows with tweezers, I have always been told to get the ones that are slanted, it'll say rather or not it is.

Do the plucking very sparingly on the bottom only- unless you have a unibrow. If you overpluck, you'll get that surprised look that looks so stupid.
