Multiply by 3 on both sides:

x+2=6x+15

Subtract x and subtract 15 from both sides;

-13=5x

Divide by 5:
-13/5 = x

The first thing you want to do is isolate your variable x.
In this case we can multiply be three: x + 2 = 3(2x + 5).
You then do the distributive property: x + 2 = 6x + 15.
Subract from both sides: -13 = 5x
Divide by 5: -13/5 = x

Voila!

first multiply both sides by 3, the 3 under the fraction will cancel out leaving:

X+2 = (3)2x+5
x+2 = 6x+15
subtract x from both sides
-x+x+2 = 6x-x+15
2= 5x + 15
subtract 15 from both sides
-15+2 = 5x
-13=5x
divide both sides by 5

-13/5 = x

Multiply both sides by 3:

x + 2 = 6x + 15
So -5x = 13
x = -13/5
