There's plenty of hotels in Orlando. Yes, all these websites everyone is giving you are equally good. You want cheap, look online. Go directly to the hotel chain's website (Holiday Inn, La Quinta Inn, Motel 6, etc) and you'll score yourself some deals. Want cheaper? Fly in to Orlando without a reservation and just look around. It will take longer, but you can score a decent hotel room (ie. Economy Inn, Comfort Inn) for about $40 a night (specially if you're willing to stay a bit farther from the attractions).

i usually book flights directly with the airline i want to use. (southwest is usually pretty cheap)

not all airlines will show up when you use a search like Yahoo Travel, Travelocity, or Expedia. However, these might be good to get a list of the hotels in the area.

(I like to stay at Disney World, and I book my hotel directly through them)

Orbitz or Expedia are pretty good. After you get a price quote, check directly with the airlines and with the hotel to see how prices compare.
