It is not a lie, i'm sure. I heard refernces to it several books of disturbing facts, and refrenced to in the League of Gentlemen. I'm told it happens in Hull especially!

Cant say Ive heard of it. And its doesnt really sound like it would work either, as I think most people bend at their knees to pick it up, I also assume they would some kind of clothing as well.
