Recent information has surfaced in which the footage of Steve Irwin's death may be released and broadcast on television. [41] However the opposite has also been stated. Irwin's friend and manager John Stainton said to CNN's Larry King "[The tape] should be destroyed". [42]

Yes, it would be morbid, but more morbid things can be viewed on the Internet, Iraqi beheadings of Americans, murders by the Nazi's during WWII, etc. There are those who say Steve Irwin would want people to see it. If it were aired, perhaps I would watch it, but, I would not go out of my way to see it. Maybe someone would learn how not to go near a stingray. If it is not aired, it certainly would not bother me to respect that decision. It should be up to his wife and since they have young children, I would be in favor of it not being aired.

I think that in a sense, death is fasinating. I know it sounds morbid but it is. At least to me. For some reason seeing the strange ways people have died like on rotten.com is interesting. But some things are just a little too gruesome. So to actually watch someone be killed is a little too odd. In Steve's case, he was stabbed in the heart by a sting ray. I don't know if that scene would be gruesome. But one arguement is that it was a rare way to get killed so that alone might peak a lot of interest.

Nah. I wouldn't want to see it. But it's big news and the person who taped it and the person who may air it is due to get good money. So it's not about what's best for the Irwin family, it's about cash and ratings.

Watching someone die is morbid. Broadcasting it is irresponsible. Ratings are more important than the family's feelings, obviously.

This should not even be up for debate. His family should choose to destroy this footage before it gets into the wrong hands.

Anyone who watches his death is sadistic. The tape should be
destroyed for the sake of his wife and children.

I don't want to watch it. I don't know why, but I think that this should be kept for the family to decide.
