There are many ways to increase your total score in a Scrabble game.

1) Know your 2 letter words. There are 101 acceptable 2 letter words in Scrabble. QI and ZA are recent additions to the game, and can create huge scoring plays (considering they are both 10 point tiles).

2) Use the "Hot Spots". Look for plays that place High point tiles (JQXZ) on the Double Letter and Triple letter squares. Also there are places on the board where you can play a 5 letter word and cover both a Tile multiplier and a Word Multiplier (like a Double Letter/Triple Word or a Triple Letter/Double Word).

3) Look for Bingoes. Plays that use all seven of your tiles earns you a 50 point bonus after the word is scored.

4) Manage your tiles. Keeping bingo-prone tiles will help you make better plays. Bingo prone tiles are tiles that have a hig chance of creating a 7 letter word. S, A, T, I, N, E, R, and L are very bingo prone.

5) Improve your word knowledge. In tournament play, knowing a definition isn't required - just the knowledge that the word is vaild is good enough. There are multiple websites that have LOTS of Lists and Tools that can help you learn new words.

http://www.carolravi.com/ScrWeb/LeXpert - Lexpert is a Windows Program that can help you study words and improve your ability to find good plays.

Basically, look for high scoring words, look for plays that cover hot spots, and most importantly - HAVE FUN!

My daughter and I are very competitive when we play scrabble, and we are relatively evenly matched, so it is usually a very good game. Generally in our games we each score close to or over 400 points.

Scrabble is much more than knowing a lot of words. It is also a visual spatial game, so it is often about finding and being able to use the unusual spaces on the board. It is about strategy and knowing a lot of little tricks with words - such as which words can take an s or a d or an r at the end or other letters at the beginning. It is about being able to keep track of which letters are already played and knowing which letters are still available. It is about blocking the other player so s/he can't get the best spaces.

Here are a couple of good sites that might interest you. Best of luck with improving your game.

Check out the Scrabble statistics at http://www.scrabulous.com/statistics.php and see the records. It is easy to score if you have a high value letter on a double 'letter' square and then form a triple-triple. That will give you some amazingly high number of points, even more than 200 in most cases.

very easily, I often score in the high 300's and into the 400's. My uncle is a whiz at finding 7 letter words, and he is often higher than that. Remember if you are the 1st player, your score doubles on the 1st word, use the highest tile points you have, putting a tile one the double letter tile. Then, try to build your words only using the bonus squares, try putting the x on a triple letter tile and have your word go both ways, example ax and ox. that can bring you around 50+ points in a turn. Never waste your turns on trading in tiles or passing.

It doesnt matter how many players play or Trying to empty ur tile
Its how u play the game
If u are gud at playing this game, U lnow wat to do even if
There are for players

We know that the more people play the less chance to earn 200 points. the trick is to block

How?

not block that u place ur tile on where ur opponent is planning to

by making the tiles very close to each other that u cant place any
more tiles but to open a way( i call it a stick up)

I have my own strategy here:

Be first to play

Try to make small words like cat, dog etc. mostly 3 letter word
on early game

always use high point letters as early as u can( place them on double/triple word/letter for better results )

when u pass u can change ur entire tile w/ new ones

use ur blank tile wisely

1. why use high letter at first?
to avoid subtraction of scores

2. why small words at first?
To make the tiles stick up so if one opens, u can take advantage, if not, do the stick up AGAIN

3. why change of tiles
Simple what can u do w/ useless tiles???

thats all any questions???

If you use all 7 of your tiles you get a 50 point bonus. There was a Perplex City card called Freak Word with a similar question.

200 pts per game or the one turn? You might be able to it in one turn by using the "x" on the triple letter square, using 7 tiles on a triple triple. (50 pt bonus.)

That's easy. If you only play with two people, you have a chance to score higher. The more people playing, the lower your score will be.
