I find Zidane as an all-in-all player...he knew how to dribble (one hell of a dribbler!), shoot, peform free-kicks, penalty kicks, corner kicks and even headers....his technique is IMMENSELY high. On the other hand..I find Beckham useless in everything BUT passing and free-kicks...that's my point of view at least...what do you think?

I think you have to take Zidane. He's more well rounded and will integrate everyone into the game. Plus, he can score goals, setup teammates, and manage the game--keep possession of the ball and control the flow of the game. However, Beckham is a class player and his crosses are deadly, and result in numerous goals for his team. He's also great at free kicks as you mention. But I think Zidane will do the unexpected, a move or pass that surprises the other team and results in a goal. He also perform well in key games, take the Champions League Final a few years ago or the World Cup finals in Paris, where he scored two goals. He stands above Beckham just because he's won more titles, that's another way to look at it. Take a look at this volley: http://www.soccer-training-info.com/zidane_volley.asp

I agree with you. Beckham is sometimes way too over-rated and media-frenzy. He seems to get distracted a lot from that.
Zidane can perform like no other player. Like you said, his skill and technique is just amazing and is ALWAYS useful in a game. He has many techniques and was key to victories for his clubs and France in 98 WC. He is one of the greats. Right next to Pele and Maradona. A true legand!

By the way, sti's answer is 100% right.

Just think about this: more goals are score from good passes or free kicks? Zidane was a great player, Beckam was very good. And he had the chance to become great, but he went the "media darling " way. To bad.

I am an England fan, but i will admit that Zidane was ten times the player becks is or ever was. becks was all flash but no game. yes he free kicks were good, but he wasnt an allround player like zidane. also zidane has a good awareness and leadership qualities.

I agree Beckham is a standard player by now. Rooney is replacing him slowly but surely. Zidane is a real footbal player which should not be forgotten quickly.
