Batman's serious. The Joker is not. The joker will never die because if he did what would Batman truly have to defend? They are made for each other (non-sexually) without one, the other does not exist.
Read Frank Miller's The Dark Knight to better understand.

The Joker is a famous icon in DC now.. Evil Icon but still an icon an DC won't kill of a character that not only help build DC Comics but still generates a large amount of money. Of course the joker has supposedly died many times he always comes back

na, it's a good and evil thing. without the joker the comic wouldn't really be worth reading. Unless they came up with an even better villan.

No the joker is like his arch enemy. Al thought it would be kool if he did finish him off, but the joker is needed for further plots.
