I have always had a problem with flaky skin. I scrub my face all the time, and use cream but it is always flaky. So when I apply my powder it makes it look worse. Like on my forehead I can see tiny flakes, or on my chin. Then I end up having to just wash it all off. Is there something I can put on my face BEFORE I put my powder on to make it look better?

I used to have this problem too, don't fret.

When I had this problem, I used to use a good quality moisturizer, and then a primer before my make up. (I reccomend Smashbox Photo Finish Primer; it moisturizes as well as has a spf 15 to protect your sensative skin) It sounds like you have problematic skin, and the make up you are using might just be making it worse. If you find that it is sensative the BEST make up you can use would be a natural mineral foundation, and that is what I use. It makes your skin flawless without the cake up or flaky ness, and even if it is flakey, its really not as noticeable. I reccoment BareEcentuals Bare Minerals Foundation & Mineral Veil. my favourite moisturizer is by Nivea. I had a flaky forehead but not any more. try not to scrub so often, over-exfoliating is really hard on the skin. you need to have some natural oils and the scrubbing is upsetting the balance. I use a gentle face scrub at night by St Ives. My skin is the best it has ever been. An oil free foundation minimally applied works well too. I use to use powder after foundation, but gave it up too. Skin lightly moisturized with a bit of foundation looks natural and pretty.

Don't wear powder is my best suggestion. Besides making flakes look worse, it also absorbs oil, drying your skin further & creating a vicious cycle. It's not doing you any favors!

You may be scrubbing it too much. Cut back to once a day or every other day. Use a moisturizing foundation or tinted moisturizer (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer is great!) and use blotting papers instead of powder to control oil through the day.

I'm on Retin-A which dries my face out like crazy. I don't wash my face in the morning with cleanser. I just take a wet washcloth and scrub my face very hard. It gets most of the dead skin off.

When you moisturize, make sure your face is a little damp. Moisturizers don't actually put moisture in your skin, they keep moisture in. So putting it on when your skin is wet traps the moisture in.

I use powder and I rarely have dry looking skin.
Hope this helps.

If it's flaky then it's propably dry too. Don't scrub ur face too much ,it'll irritate it and make it dryer. If u have to scrub use something very mild. And powder makes any dryness more obvious so skip that use just foundation. Also if u use blush use a cream or a gel.

No more daily scrubbing and time to invest in a good moisturiser, not neccessarily expensive kind. Garnier, Olay and neutrogena are good brands already.

Before foundation application, ensure your skin is well-moisturised. You may consider using tinted moisturiser or try liquid foundation as powder highlights the flaky effects.

Well you need to use a good moisturizer, one of the most popular product is Clinique's Dramatically different moisturizing lotion (or gel if your skin is dry and oily, it can also be the case). After, you can use an alternative to powder for concealing: you can buy spray foundation, which blends better than a traditional liquid foundation and is also lighter (you can find some at sephora.com).

Maybe the cream and the powder you put on makes your skin dry. Try putting on liquid foundation first, then apply powder. Try a different powder

If you have severly dry skin you dont need to use powder. You need to exfoliate your skin well about two times a week, use a heavy moisturizer, and possibly even a hydrating mask once a week. i am sure you will begin to see results, and when you do wear powder, use a loose powder preferably a translucent powder and use a big brush to apply it so it isnt heavy or cakey

moisturizing is the key!! always moisturize your face!, but you should try Studio Fix foundation from M.A.C. It is very lite on the skin and it sets like powder not like a thick foundation! I love it
