I bought a pair of slip on converse (they are the ones without the laces) and I should have gotten a half size smaller because my feet tend to slip a lot around the heel. It isn't a problem, but since you can't tighten them with laces, it's hard to fix and it's kind of annoying. I can't return them and I don't want to buy another pair. If I soak them in cold water or put them in the dryer will they shrink some? Or is there anything I can put around the heel of the shoe to add extra friction? Thanks

I doubt you could shrink it half size by washing it at a higher temperature. Besides the colors might fade. Ask a shoemaker, if you have nothing to loose then put it in the washing machine and wash above advised temperature. Do not overdo it. I suggest 20 centigrade higher only. If it all goes wrong you have nothing to loose.

How To Shrink Converse Shoes

You can't shrink the rubber or fabric half a size, they may shrink slightly but will stretch out as you wear them again. I'd try adding to the shoe inside. Like socks or a liner or insert on the bottoms, some will feel great! Gels etc....

maybe only the fabric will shrink, not the rubber part, in that case you would have one funny looking shoe!!!!! try buying an insole for them, i had a pair of heels that my feet would slide around in & i bought a pair of insoles (they are only like $5-$7) and now they fit nice & snug!!! you can get them at any drug store, supermarket, or shoe makers store. dr scholl's are the best!!! nice & squishy

Wash in hot water, use fabric softener in rinse. Dry in dryer on medium setting. If this doesn't get them as small as you want, go to foot products section in grocery store and get some innersoles.

If you pop them in the dryer after washing, they will shrink.
