It's obvious they are both uncomfortable here. His face may just be bad timing but his upper body and neck are pulling away. He is either trying to look tough or just doesn't know her well or feel close enough to her. She doesn't seem to be dating him, at least not long but wants him to like her. She is pressing her upper body into him and pushing her bum out. This is to make her look skinny with a bit of a booty and give him a little incentive to be closer by touching him with her breasts. The reason I don't think she knows him well is her hand. If they were close her hand would probably be grasping his side a bit more but instead it is in a very safe spot on his stomach and the fingers are open and loosely placed on him. This is a sign of sweaty palms. I think that he is into her a bit but more in a sexual way (his hand is in her low back a sign of sexual attraction. If he was touching her upper back then it would be more friendly than sexual) But she is looking for a trophy boyfriend that her friends would think was hot.

I just read a book on body language, and this is what I think. The girl is holding onto the boy with both arms, and is smiling slightly with her lips closed; she seems to feel she's the one in control - BUT - the boy has his head thrown back and is almost grimacing; he is also presenting himself more frontally to the photographer, and seems to be pulling away from her slightly, as though he's not *quite* comfortable with the closeness. While things are ok for this couple for the immediate moment, I think I'd expect to see a breakup soon.
