Make sure the McAfee Firewall and Antivirus are enabled and up-to-date, automatically check for updates and run virus scans at least once a week. Make sure Windows automatic updates is turned on. As for spyware, no one antispyware tool catches everything. I'd recommend adding free spyware tools like Spybot - Search and Destroy (www.safer-networking.org) and Ewido (www.ewido.net). Ad-Aware (www.lavasoft.de) is also good but the free version doesn't include automatic updates or real-time protection (Ad-Watch). And be careful about clicking on links and attachments in email -- the fake senders are getting very good. If it's a friend, don't open attachments unless you were expecting them; if it's your bank, or ebay, or paypal, don't click the link, go to the site the way you usually do and see what it says there.

first of all, I want to say that you are covered, there's nothing you need. But Mcafee is one of the worst antivirus/security programs out there, I say this because I'm in computer repairing, you have no idea how much business Mcafee has generated for my business. The software is OK against virus, but about 25-30% of the time in the future, it will mess up your computer (softwarely). I won't go into more details, because it's endless. hopefullly you only signed up for one year, after that get Kaspersky, it cost little more, but it's the best out there.

I disagree with the first guy.
Mcafee is great for fighting viruses.
However on the internet you can encounter Spyware and Adware. Two dangerous things that are very similar to viruses, but different.
There are two programs, that are free to use that I recommend you download and run to help make your laptop even safer.
If you go to www.download.com , in the search type these names and it will bring up the download.
For spyware: Spybot Search and Destroy
For adware: Ad Aware
Hope I could help!
