It seems to me that "situational ethics" would be akin to a lack of ethics.
No, liberalism is not "the art of situational ethics".
Liberalism is an political attitude based on thought and ethics rather than doctrine and selfishness.

No. It's merely a philosophy of how to address the advancement of people from "in poverty" to "not in poverty." That can apply to much more than just financial status, or social rank. No one group of philosophies may lay claim to such a distinction. If so, does that mean that the world had no situational ethics (diplomacy) before liberalism?
