you have to fit exactly 4 gallons of water in a five gallon jug but you only have a 3 gallon jug and a 5 gallon jug. what you do is fill up the 3 then dump it all in the 5. then fill the 3 again use the 3 to finish filling the 5 now you have 1 gallon left in the 3. empty the 5 then dump the left over 1 in the 5. now fill the 3 again and dump into the 5.you now have exactly 4 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug.
