How can you make your make-up stay on longer?

I already have tried smashbox and laura gellar primers and they work okay i guess. but I want a primer that will make my make-up stay on all day.

As a former Clinique Makeup consultant and part-time local model the tricks I learned for keeping makeup on were: 1) Exfoliate daily before applying your makeup. Usually with a good but not harsh toner, and with a scrub about two times a week. You can also do some nightly alpha-hydroxy as it takes off the dead skin as well but with even more even and radiant results. One caveat: Make sure alpha-hydroxy is at the top of the ingredients list before buying. Many cosmetics companies see this stuff knowing they put less than the tip of a sewing needle in it and charge an arm and a leg so be careful about that. 2) Always set your makeup with a powder after applying it. Nothing very heavy just a few pats with a clean powder pad even on the lips...that turns any lipstick into a "long-lasting" lipstick. 3) If you have oily skin or t-zone oiliness then your makeup will separate sooner and come off faster than ppl with dry or normal skin. To avoid this take about a half teaspoon of Milk of Magnesia (yep you read that correctly) and apply it the face in the oily areas after washing but BEFORE applying the makeup. This soaks up oil like crazy all day! It also gives the makeup tons of staying power. 4) Don't forget about the long-lasting makeups...most of them still work and many are drugstore brands like Revlon 5) Check out, "Don't Go Shopping For Cosmetics Without Me" by Paula Begoun it's a makeup consumer's bible. Make sure that you wash your face BEFORE you apply your makeup. This will provide a clean slate and will get rid of oils that can make your makeup run. Use a moisturizer before you apply your foundation. This will provide a base to help the foundation cling longer. When you're done, go over your face with a loose powder to help it stay.

Also, remember never to touch your face after you've applied your makeup. This spreads oil on your face, increasing the chances of it running. Carry some oil-blotting sheets with you as well just in case.

Wash your face with an exfoliating cleanser. Don't use those cream foundations or else your make up would be a puddle before midday. And carry some face blots. Hope this helps.

get something that says full coverage or for oily skin. also resist touching your face throughout the day lancome teint idol is what i use for all day wear and it is the best i have come across, kind of spendy. i used to work for lancome, and i tried all sorts of products to compare and there were none. however, estee lauder has one, i can't think of its name, but it was close. but not touching your face will really make a difference and a lot of girls don't realize they are even doing it.

I've heard that if you put your makeup in the refridgerator, it'll make it last longer. Don't know if it works, but it's worth a try!!

For you eyeshadow use mac paints under your eyeshadow. For lips use a lipliner close to your lip liner under your lipstick.
