I have a funny answer: because the brothers are big hulking loads of dirty laundry with almost no recognisable brain power while the sisters are generous, lovely and very intelligent citizens of the real world.

But I think it is the tension of love. Love does not mean that we never have problems with the other person (look at marriage). Love means that you are willing to remain in the tension of a relationship whether it is going good or bad. Siblings inherit that tension at birth. It comes with the territory. Consequently, it is one of the strongest bonds, and therefore, one that can cause the most friction.
