again Im on a differant computer to those who airnt quick enough?

to figure that out I cant get online with my other computer either thru dialup or ethernet it shut down my mcafee so I had to install with a cd norton I checked all settings on modem and ethernet card and it shows working fine

Format and reinstall Windows and all the drivers. You will be fine.

Use Avast anti virus and do a scan.Good luck.

Maybe your modem is no good.
