Yates racing has a long road to travel to get back to its heyday. The need of a "senior"driver is the main goal. Now David Gilliland is an excellent drive but he is a rookie. There needs to be a driver that has 4 or 5 years under their belt .
I was a fan of both Davy and Ernie there would be a couple of championships between those 2.They both were taken away from the sport too soon.Who can forget the Davy vs Kyle petty finish to the "WINSTON".

I don't know what's going on RYR. I'd like to see that team start doing well again but it just doesn't seem like they have the right chemistry at the moment. Maybe some changes with driver and other personell is what they need. If don't miss the days of Davey Allison and Ernie Irvan then you can't be considered a true Nascar fan. The sport needs more drivers like those two were.

RYR will be back. Probobly be more like DYR in the next season or two though when Doug takes over. Look at the 4 Fords in the top ten, all have RYR engines in them and they have all been consistent. The problem right now with RYR is they have a rookie driver that has very limited experience and a veteran driver who, while still good, is way past his prime. In 1993 when Davey Allison died it took RYR a few years to come back but they did come back with the number 88 on the car and won a championship.

Yes Robert Yates will just give it some time and they will be back on top in no time at all. I do miss Davey and Ernie both were great drivers and both would have one championships in their respective years that they raced. I have always liked RYR since they began and stuck with whatever driver drove for him. Too bad that Dale Jarrett couldn't finish his career at RYR but that how this business goes I guess.

I think RYR has some work to do, but I think they can come back. I mean, all of the great teams have struggled, and every team goes through it's rough times. RCR ring a bell?? Now look at 'em?? I think it's harder to be so competitive with smaller teams, and I think he'll probably struggle for a little while..but seriously, you can't go wrong with Yates power.. and hopefully he can get the rest of hte program together, seat some talented drivers and get back up to a top team.

Yes, who doesn't miss two great drivers??

I think that they can make a comeback but they have a long road ahead of them. It's not going to happen over night, as they have a lot of reconstruction to do with their organization. I say we'll see in about 2 years.

No. The team is too small to be seriously competitive.
