again and again, i read that question here alot and not only you who is worry about visiting Egypt, i have no more than what i answered before, no 100% security, so even u r american or wha ever your nationalty, u can't be safe at your country. and people who worry even if they stay at them home, they not safe there. danger can happen anywhere, so why i stop myself away from all the joy around in that big world just for some worries. i work in tourism field and met so diffeerant people from differant countires honestly tell you they do enjoy and feel safe during they are here. i not hide there are some trouble happen time by time here around as bomp or attack. but this happen now everywhere. and the most important thing here that all the people around is ready to care for you cause u come here as a guest. so you are always welcomeing.
wish you nice trip.

I just went last year, and I had no problems at all. It was an amazing time. If female you may want to cover more in certain areas, just so you don't get more attention than you'd like. But when you get to the tourist sites I was in shorts and a tank top. There were bombings before and after we went, one in the bazaar we went to, but you could just as well have something happen here or anywhere else in the world for that matter. At no time did I ever feel unsafe. I even went over to Alexandria by myself and stayed for 3 days, walked around at night, ate at local establishments. You just want to be sure of yourself and not look like you are lost all the time. Be safe and smart and you won't have any problems.

yes ofcourse it is. i'm Egyptian and i'm telling you there are soooo many American tourists here in Egypt. we are very friendly people and you will like it here. we've got the best weather and the best seas and monuments and friendly people, what more can you ask for? i guess those people you're mentioning think we're terorists, but i assure you that's not true. and there's NO REASON to be scared AT ALL. i'm not saying this just to increase the number of tourists coming to Egypt, but because it's a great country away from all the hurricanes and the tsunamis and earthquakes and volcanos and any other natural catastrophies you can think of. it's a very peacful place.

PS: if you ARE coming i sugest you visit the pyramids, Luxor city, Cairo (ofcourse), Marsa Matrouh, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurgada.

YES, it's totally safe. you will not be the first foreigner to visit Egypt and you will not be the last one. In the apartment next to mine lives a German woman..she have been here for more than 25 years..she's alive, she's happy and she plays piano and i can hear her performing from my room. If you are worried because of those accidents that happened in Sinai, I am telling you that they happen rarely. And you can stay away from Sinani if you are still worried.

It's totally safe for Americans to travel anywhere in the Middle East,
except, for the moment, occupied Palestine and Iraq.

If someone was wounded in the Middle East you'd have heard it on Fox News and CNN,
If you haven't heard anything, it means Americans are safe there.

I am going in October and many people think I am nuts. I learned long ago sometimes they think I am nuts for going anywhere alone and I figured out that mostly it is their own fears and for me not to let it get to me. Obviously in this case I can understand their concerns but things happen everywhere. I have learned also that if it is your time it is your time. I have seen too many cases of people who technically and scientifically "should have died" and are still alive and have had dear friends die in freak circumstances. Relax, enjoy and have a great time.
