the bottom line in this argument lies with the family...if they feel it is right to see the death of steve doing what he loved doing then that would be the case....only they will decide and i hope if they do they charge an arm and a leg for the benefit of the causes steve espoused........i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I do and do not want to see the tape. I don't think the tape should be shown on TV as his last remembrance because a person's death should not be the last thought in your mind about the person.
I think the video and accompanying tribute should be available only on the Internet for a fee in which all proceeds would go to the following:
10% to a fund for his children
10% to Australia Zoo
80% to a scholarship fund that his wife manages for conservation efforts.
There are so many clamoring for the tape that it will someday be released if it and all copies are not destroyed. However, it presents an awesome opportunity for his work and the people that mattered most to him to continue with "no worries".
I know this may seem to some as a harsh and uncaring response but if you knew me and how I feel about Steve, you'd see that it is only to make the best of a bad piece of footage. I think the very fact that it exists means that it should be used for a greater good.
Yes, this is difficult for the family but how often do people get to see how a loved one died? I know I would feel better if I could see how my loved one died; it would be sad, disturbing, and hard to watch but it would also make me feel better in a way and give me closure. Also, it would keep my mind from being driven by my imagination about what happened by defining what really happened. Often the imagination is far worse than reality.

I hope they never show it. For one thing what if years down the road that they showed that on tv again and Steves children just happened to be watching it that day. That would be horrible. I myself would rather remember Steve the way he was a good person, someone who wanted to teach the world about all the beautiful creatures that he loved. I don't want to see him die.

No. Although you probably feel that this will bring home the reality of the situation and give you and others some closure. It would more likely not help at all and bring more pain to his family and friends. We never want to see the picture of Princess Diana or this tape. They belong in the casket with the dead person. never to see the light of day. They are just too personal and private.

No, we have already had a tribute on television of his life.
The actual footage of his death is going to be destroyed, According to Steve Irwins manager Joe Stainton,
The 10 days prior to his death where he was filming for bindi, Will only be continued if Terri feels comfortable with it,
But theres is absoloutley NO chance of anyone seing his final moment, We have no right tooo anyway, It was never going to be released to any of us.

His remembrance should be the things he did while he was alive, not a video of his last moments on earth.Think that would be a good thing for the kiddies to watch on TV?Where has compassion for fellow human beings gone in this world?

No. It would serve no purpose but to feed the media vultures and the vile sector of society that thinks that they have a "right" to see him killed, or that it would be "neat" to watch him die.
If you want to do a rememberance, do a tribute to what the man did when he was LIVING, not when he was DYING.

morbid curiosity has its place but this incident isnt it.
the man had a passion and zest for what he loved.
why would anyone in their right minds wish to see someone dying, while doing what they loved best?

I would like that but,
NO.
It's family privacy.
I really wouldn't like it if my husband was famous and died and people are showing the whole world would be watching him...
