Why is it when your computer freezes, people keep on pushing more and more buttons?

I have been an elecronic techincial and test engineer.
I call, what you describe as the 3 stooges method of troubleshooting.
There was an old 3 stooges film, where they get trapped in a space ship, on another planet. None of them, of course, knows how to run a space ship, so Moe, says, "Just push buttons."
Of course, they accidentally push the right buttons in the right sequence and the ship takes off and they come home.
People think that if you push enough buttons in a random sequence, you will eventually hit on the right combination.
I used to hate it when I had to fix a long series of problems that could have been avoided if they had only hit "undo" when they first saw the problem.

Because at first it may appear the computer hasn't froze but instead is lagging (running extremely slow) to the point where it seems it has frozen. By pushing Ctrl+Alt+Del, this brings up the Task Manager which usually has a set priority over any running application. It's there you can determine the computer's slowness or elmininate any process or software application that's causing the computer to lag. It's usually determined by pressing these 3 keys at different intervals that'll eventually tell the person whether the computer is lagging or has frozen (given there's no response after a few attempts).
But to some, it just looks goofy that someone would do that.

when your pc freezes try this
tap alt-pause break repeatedly a few times
this will unlock the pc from some situations

because some how they think pressing them all will shock the computer and wake it up. unfouranatly they are messing up the keyboard

i don't know, but i do know that they need to stop looking at so much porn, that downloads all at once and causes it to freeze
