hi there dont listen to what the other people are saying as it would cost you an arm and a leg to sue the guy or gal - there is an organisation that deals with all things electrical so you must contact if you need to sort a problem out with a qualified electrician
firstly there are two unions one is called (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) and if you want their web address is as follows
http://www.niceic.org.uk/consumers/certificates.html
hopefully this will help you sort out your problem let me know if you get it sorted out
do not go to the trading standards as they wont be able to help you as it is not a complaint they will be able to help you

It is illegal for any un-qualified person to install, up-grade or otherwise make alterations to an electrical system. The company who employ the installer will be well aware of that. All is not lost, the work done can be signed off, by a qualified person who will issue a certificate, but you must pay for the service. A certificate will be required. As forthe Gas, the same applies, No Corgi registered, no touch, again this alteration must be inspected by a Corgi registered person and a certificate of competence issued, once again you must pay. Before you contact anyone, talk to the installer and find out if he has the authority to do the work he has carried out. If not tell him you want it inspected and a certificated, at his expence, BEFORE he completes the work.

You will have to get another electrician in to certify it. In future remember that no genuine tradesman will require an up front payment or even daily. He may ask for money for materials but never give it without seeing the receipt from the wholesaler! You will just have to put this down to experience.By the way did you check that he was certificated!

Have someone who is compent to evaluate the job done. I am sure a compentant electrician can certify work done by someone else. If it was not done properly you can claim your money from him. In future you must know that most of these trades people need constant supervision. WE once had a very good builder who was messing up a lot. I told him any wastage any mistakes willbe paid for him. i was lucky that did the trick he did his job well.

WELL 1ST POINT YOUR HOUSE INSURANCE IS NOW VOID
OK sore point out the way what you need to do is get some one from your electricity suppl-yer to come round and do an inspection once you house gets condemned you will have about 6 weeks to get it repaired then you can the take it to civil court to sue and press for the cost you payed him and the cost of the re-rewire (that you will need to pay out for ) and once its all over you will be glad it was done right
thinks to check if you are getting a sparky in to do your house
:- the sparky has IEE 16th edition and its in date and a part P

It"s simple===you lose. Either he was not a certified electrician , and/or a fly by night crook and you got took out of your money. Sounds like to me "he" was a little bit of both==but, first of all, a plain and simple crook. Remember that "cheap" is not always cheap==as you will find out in re-doing his work. Have a Nice Day.

By the sounds of it,i would think this guy was not really registered, otherwise he wouldnt be so evasive about putting his name to his work.Im more inclined to think hes bogus too,if his work is as bad as you say it is....cowboy comes to mind.Try to find out if he belongs to any official governing body like the NIC EIC or NAPIT and if he is then report him.If not then consider taking him to the small claims court to force him to pay up to put right the mess

Report him/her to the Better Business Bureau and Contact the state licensing and certification board. Also report him to the county overseeing electrical work.

Sounds like your in England or overseas. My best guess would be to file a complaint with the governing body that issued him the certificate. Good Luck!!!
