Does it seem to anybody else that pop culture trends are beginning or have begun shifting away from the hip hop and teen über-pop/TRL culture from the last 5-8 years? If so, where do you think pop culture is headed?

If it hasn't started shifting, when in hell are we ever gonna be able to escape it's deadly grasp??

Brother, lets pray and hope that it is on it's way out. It's the main reason why kids these day demand all these high priced clothes and shoes, because of the bullshit so-and-so has on in their music video, or endorsements. Girls think it's cool to call eachother bitches and hoes. Just listen to the bullshit, it's garbage. If hip hop was a beast, I'd love to slay it. Bring back the old school soul. Isaac Hayes, EWF, Kool and the Gang, Parliament, Marvin Gaye, Atlantic Starr...whatever happened to REAL music? The music these new artists claim they are so inspired by. But they continue to pollute the airwaves with their confuckedup bullshit.

Burn it.

Are you talking about pop cultrue or pop music?

I hope pop music is headed to the grave. To make room for more thoughtful, intelligent music, like hip-hop-- but not the pansy, ignorant, materialistic, crap you hear on the radio and see on MTV.

Pop culture, on the other hand, is hear to stay. The trend simply shifts from time to time.

Whatever the corporate monsters want to feed us is what we'll see next.

yes it's starting to shift toward more rock like Fall Out Boy, OK Go, Nickle Back. It's just a smidgen harder then the pop punk of past. Teens will always be "in" with our culture because of their disposable incomes, and the ease at which they can be influenced.

Hip hop will slowly breed with polka music, spawning lots of heavy urban riffs done on the accordian. Baggy DKNY lederhosen, feathered caps, and fat sneakers will adorn the new age's top rappers, who will be smash hits at both high school prom and Oktoberfest.

As time changes, music changes and I think that within the next 2-3 years, something else is going to come up that will sound so weird to us.
