3 sided polygon: 180°
4 sided polygon: 360°
5 sided polygon: 540°
6 sided polygon: 720°
7 sided polygon: 900°
8 sided polygon: 1080°
9 sided polygon: 1260°
If the polygon has n sides, then the sum of the internal angles is equal to 180(n-2), and each angle is 180(n-2)/n degrees.

(n-2)*180=1260
(n-2)=1260/180
n-2=7
n=9

The sum of the interior angles of a nonagon is 1260 degrees.
That would be nine sides.

To be complete, the diagram requires a glass (prism) edge (which is the double line in the diagram below), the other two lines are light rays at different angles. \ || \ || \ || \ || ------------------- / || / || / || / || The horizontal line goes straight through the glass edge whereas the diagonal ray is reflected. The horizontal light ray is at 0 degrees and the diagonal ray is more than 42 degrees . The angle of the horizontal ray is too small to be reflected. The only mistake you made was saying that the non reflected ray was 90 degrees when it is actually 0 degrees. From what I remember from university, light ray angles are not measured between the light ray and the glass edge but between the light ray and the normal of the glass edge. The normal of a glass edge is an imaginary line that is perpendicular to (90 degrees to) the surface of the glass edge). Hope that helps.

beta = 180(n - 2)/n
beta = 180(9 - 2)/9
beta = 20 * 7
beta = 140
140 * 9 = 1260
ANS : 9 angles, enneagon or nonagon
they both mean the same thing

Sorry Brad. There's no such thing as total internal refraction. No wonder you are confused.
