in your guys opinions, which is better in a play. having a small speaking part or being the understudy to the lead role. just curious?

I would say understudy...there`s more credit to it.

It depends on what you like, really. If you still want to do something, even if it's not the lead role, a small part is good. But if you've got your heart set on playing the lead, then stay as an understudy. You never know when they'll need you, but you'll make them all quite happy when they have someone to play the role.

Having a small part. Being an understudy doesn't guarantee that you'll ever see the lights on the stage. Having the small part will.
