if someone owns a piece of land, do they own it all the way to the center of the earth

Seriously though, many deeds cede mineral and water rights to other parties, including the State. You can infer that your ownership extends only below the surface a nominal distance for footings, plumbing, and normal gardening activity.

You dont even own whats directly underneath, unless you got the mineral rights, which they dont give you anymore. And think about property taxes, if you dont pay them, who owns your land? The government. You never really own land, you just think you do.
