Not a typical school backpack. Something simple and nice. A backpack evenly distributes weight throughout the body especially carrying heavy loads, but debating whether to just get a messenger bag instead because it is more corporate business friendly. Your input. Thanks..

I think in today's very mobile business environment, that they are just as acceptable as traditional briefcases. Make your choice in material and color reflect the business environment that you most commonly work with in and let your professional ability make you stand out from the competition, not your accessories.

I run a large sales dept. Most use the laptop wheel case which looks very professional. The next best solution is the messenger bag which is professional but young and not dated. I have not seen a backpack so I am undecided on this, but I think it could work, especially if you have your corporate logo monogrammed onto it (if it is material or canvas.) If you do use a backpack (or even messenger bag) be careful of leather or faux leather, they fade and look dirty fast. A dirty and unkempt bag is the worst.

I have a nice jansport laptop backpack that I use too and from the office. You can probably find a leather backpack that would be even more professional.

If you are at meetings, tradeshows, seminars etc, then I would opt for a nice leather backpack or messenger bag. If you are just commuting, then the leather is probably not needed as long as it is still a nice backpack.

Backpacks no matter how nice looking they are, are not professional. Get a brief case or an attache. Something neat, tailored and you carry either off your shoulder or in your hands.

In certain cities and certain industries, backpacks are appropriate.

I prefer an attache case myself or a briefcase.

Interesting, also consider one of the rolling bags. Briefcase that converts to rolling bag.
