i used to think i had proper english until i notice i can't understand the jamacan patois, Is it that i can't speak english or is it their language just hard? I'm latino so i wanna ask a white american person if u really or not unders. the patois from jam.

yea well i'm half african half indian but have a good english accent. Yeah the jamaican accent is just different but still english. It's just how they speak like the British or Austrailian English.

I believe that the actual patois (if that's how you spell it) is more closely related to Britain's English. A lot of the words and phrases are from there. Then as the language assumed it's own identity it has evolved into modern day jamaican patois

Jamaican Patois is hard to understand unless you are from there. It's usually the lower class of people who speak it. It's like "Ghetto talk." When you listen to a proper/educated Jamaican speak you would definitely understand it. It's like a tropical British accent. My mom's Jamaican and my boyfriend's Latino and he understands her perfectly. The patois is hard.
