I'm growing them in my garden....they have lines running vertical down the peppers. Or cracks? I don't know, are they still safe to eat? I don't want to be eating some sort of fungus. WHAT IS THIS!?

It is not a fugus! Your plants must of got a heavy supply of water just before the peppers ripened. I don't mean to be funny but they out grew their skins. This happens allot to fruit if they are just about ripe and heavy rains come. Farmers want heavy rain in early spring and light showers when fruit is ripening. They are safe to eat, just are not picture perfect.....enjoy :)

They say when they have more lines on the jalapeno peppers it mean it's very hot! Those are the best kind to get. Better the lines the hotter the jalapeno is. Yummy!

Mine did too, we are in Nor. Cali and I think I overwatered this year. I can them and we eat them raw and bbq them and I am positive that they are fine. Eat them!
