Before you do that, you want to make sure that your opinion is wanted. You can't just jump into any group because that would be rude and intrusive. You should only do this with your own intimate friends. It's best to listen for a while before providing input so as not to say something stupid or totally irrelevant.

take over..
talk intelligent but funny
start hitting on the first gal in the group
take the gal for drinks
and make sure to scre*w her in order to amortize your investment on the cocktails
go home and consider it a great evening, night
