Sleeping over implies a level of commitment that the guy (usually it's the guy) is not prepared to make. It also requires getting through potentially awkward moments in the morning. And it forces him to confront the woman he slept with the night before in the cold light of day, and come face to face with the realization that he might not want to have a relationship with her. Also she might not look as good in the morning as she did the night before.

I think it's because when you sleepover you are giving the impression that there's a possibility for more. A true one-night stand lasts only that night - meaning from darkness until right before dawn. In other words, you come in the dark (no pun intended) and you leave in the dark.

Simply because one-night stands aren't about cozing up to each other. It's all about some good satisfying sex then off to your own cozy bed to sleep blissfully. Although usually when you are in the midst of a one-niter you are drunk ... so by the time you get done handling the business at hand you have no energy to even get up and call a taxi much less drive yourself home!

Probably because one night stands are usually a result of the proverbial "beer goggles" and not really meaningful. So after the fact you take off out of embarrassment, guilt or the realization that the person you just boinked really isn't your type at all.
Besides, it's hard to sleep soundly in a strange place and even more hard to sleep with a person that you don't know all that well.

I always stay overnight. I like to find a friendly face when I wake up. Besides, staying over keeps us both warm, and very often leads to more than a one night stand. My last one has lasted for over 4 years. We might be married, things are going so well.

It's a trust issue. If you know it's a one night stand and you have no obligations or real feelingsfor the person, you believe the feel the same about you. You are at your most vulerable while asleep and have to trust the people you're sleeping with. In sex, you have controll, but in sleep you're helpless

Because, that's what a one-night-stand is for. Do your business and leave. It's like making a bank transaction; you don't stick around to the next day to see if it's alright, you just know the job was done.

Its a one-night-stand, not a bed and breakfast. Why stick around in the place of someone you barely know? The deed is done.

Some do. And one night stands don't always end at one night.
But I think it's so that they don't have to try to make casual conversation with someone they just spent the night being anything but casual with.

it's just too intimate. the allure of the "stand" is the game being played that night. in the morning, you just might have more of a conscience than you did the night before!
i think the bigger question is why WOULD you sleep over lol.
