I believe that a world war will only happen by accident. Too many countries have nuclear weapons now. These countries cannot possible think that they could actually win a nuclear battle. Nobody will win that fight. The earth would be destroyed.
So, no nation will initiate a nuclear conflagration on purpose. In fact, the fear of nuclear retaliation is the greatest deterrent to world war at this time in history.
However, there is an infinitesimal chance that a nuclear weapon could be launched at a foreign target by accident. That chance is so small, that I don't believe that it will happen.
What I think is more plausible, is that humans will slowly deplete the world's energy resources until the lights go dark forever.

We can easily avoid WWIII simply by restarting the calendar. We can use the moon landing as the base year, making this the year 37 AL (After Landing). This will erase all prior history, and give the world a fresh start. If a world war breaks out, it will be WWI.

i think ww3 will be with the US and china ... attacking iran could escalate to it and China invading taiwan could spark it ... i think there is a high probability that there will be some form of nuclear exchange within 10 years ... hope im wrong.

It began around 1979 when Islamic Terrorists started their war against us. Finally, we are fighting back only 25 years later.

When China and other foreign investors ask us for their money back (our economy has become totally dependent on foreign aid) and our troops and resources are so depleted that we can't do anything about it.
