You're thinking of Australian shepherds, not English sheepdogs. English sheepdogs typically have so much hair on their foreheads that it covers their eyes. The Australian shepherds have the different colour eyes and the black/white/grey/cream coloured fur.

Not all...but it's not unusual for them to have 2 different colors.
