Can you give me a good tip on how to write songs?

I want to be a songwriter but I dont know where to start.
Any help would be appreciated !

A lot of people are going to tell you, "Write from your heart." Well that's a load of crap. Here's what to do:

1. Make a list of songs you like
2. Learn how to play/sing those songs
3. Change them, just a little bit, and claim that you wrote them
4. Claim you never heard of the song that your song sounds like.

This has worked really well for Pearl Jam, and will work for you too.

Write about the way you feel about someone. Your relationships. Your past, or some things you have been through, and that other people can relate to.........thats what we do. Me and my girls have wrote tons of songs, just about things we've been through. Just write down your thoughts on paper, and put a little ryhme to them and there u have it. A song!

Start with a chord progression. Then come up with a melody. To make a different section rearrange the same chords from the previous section.

I usually find inspiration when i'm alone but that may not be true for you. Find something that gives you ideas and go somewhere that makes you feel relaxed. This usually helps me, I hope it works for you too. Good luck writing!

write whats in your heart and write it like no one was ever going to see or hear it. write it to please yourself and if people dig it great if not so what it was pure.
