I'm confused about this one? Was this really an impeachable offense or a crime like most Republicans say?

Not a crime. The actual crime was in lying about it under oath, in an unrelated civil suit = perjury.

The crime was when he lied about it under oath. Note that this IS an impeachable offense. Something doesn't have to be a crime to be impeachable. The man significantly tarnished and brought dishonor to the office of the presidency. THAT is an impeachable offense.

It's not a crime to get or give head, as far as I know. The crime was lying about it under oath. Besides that, if he lied to and cheated on his wife, what do you think he would continue to do in office? Or the the American people? No matter what religion you belong to or what political party you represent, we all know, as human beings, that lying and cheating is wrong. For the head of our country to be caught doing it is a total disgrace. It's disgusting. Look at the old fart for gods sake, its not like he's hot or sexy, he just used his power and position to get something he wanted. Americans do not need nor want someone who lacks morals in that kind of a position. He might have been a good president, although that in itself is debatable. It's just that he lost the trust of the American population, and how can you ask people to follow you when they have lost all respect and trust in you?

The impeachment wasn't for the hummer. It was for lying about getting the hummer to the grand jury, while under oath.

The real crime is that Bill got a hummer from such a skanky chick. He's the president....he should have been able to have his pick of hot women. And he chooses Monica? That is impeachable.

It'd be a crime in Puritan days, or maybe under the ancient Blue Laws of Massachusetts (like kissing your wife in public). But no, though it was an awful thing to do to his wife, it was NOT a crime...just another excuse for Rethugs to slander a Democrat! And as for being impeachable? Cripes! If that were legal, then why the hell aren't Bush, Cheney and Rove under indictment for leaking the name of a covert CIA operative. That IS illegal! (Even Bush said so!)

Lying under oath was a crime and impeachable not getting into Monica's mouth.

It was not a crime when he got the bj, just when he lied about it under oath. It was pretty bad that he did it in the oval office, but the republicans made it out to be a federal case... which it wasn't, until he lied about it under oath.

The ones like Ken Star were just angry they have to pay for that gratification from a "lady of the night " ...I do think it was a big mistake . Bill wasnt as discretionary as Kennedy ...People in this country are sexually repressed . Did you see Janet Jacksons wardrobe malfunction during the superbowl ? While the commercials it were mostly about erectile disfunction . The FCC went nuts from the complaints . Am I the only one that noticed this ?

The sexual act was not a crime and President Clinton was not impeached over a sexual act. He was impeached over other issues.

The BJ itself was not a crime. Clinton was accused of obstructing justice by hiding evidence that he had the affair and lying about it under oath. He was acquitted.
