I scope out the crowd. If they look friendly enough I introduce myself first. I'm not shy and I'm really friendly so I make introductions in hopes that people won't view me as unapproachable. I always smile and shake hands or whatever. I believe it makes it easier for people to see you as likeable. Of course if they don't like me at least they can get my name right when they're talking about me behind my back. LOL.

Depends if I don't know anyone there and I may want to meet new friends. Most of the time people come to me first but I usually wait to see how a the people interact with each other. Sometimes they end up being pretty freaking and pyscho.

If everyone is standing around looking lost, I introduce myself to someone to get the ball rolling. Or if there's someone I'd like to meet, I approach him/her and introduce myself, without interrupting a conversation, or course.

It depends on the situation, but I generally tend to "hang back" - I don't know why, I just do. (Might have something to do with the type of work I do, or I might just be sizing up the situation - but I'll tell em who I am when I'm ready - haha)
