Because I am pregnant I got a real bad bladder infection. MY docter's put me on Macrobid throughout my pregnancy. The only thing is I can't take the meds after 35 weeks. And I know my bladder infection will come back 100X harder considering last week before I needed to start the medication I could hardly walk because it felt so bad. Do you think they may have to induce? What do you think? I ask this because one of my friends was induced becasue of cramping in her legs got really bad. LEt me know?

How far along are you? The antibiotics should clear everything up within 10 days. I would start taking cranberry pills along with staying very well hydrated. You don't know that the infection will come back. One course should clear it up. If it does, they will have to induce you because the infection could spread into your kidneys causing more harm than taking another course of antibiotics would.
As for the no antiobiotics after 35 weeks-untrue. How do you think they treat women with group B strep, which isn't tested for until week 36?
Certain antibiotics cannot be used near the end of pregnancy because of increased risk of serious jaundice. However, there has to be some sort of other treatment, I would seek a second opinion.
Here is a list of antibiotics safe to use during pregnancy:
Amoxicillin
Ampicillin
Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate)
Dicloxicillin
Macrobid (nitrofurantoin)
Flagyl (metronidazole) (although there is some controversy about taking it by mouth in the first trimester)
Cephalosporins including: Keflex (cephalexin), Ceclor (cefaclor), Duricef (cefadroxil)
Cleocin (clindamycin)
Erythromycin (all forms)
Zithromax (azithromycin)
Sulfa drugs (until near term)
Famvir (famciclovir)
Zovirax (acyclovir)
Valtrex (valacyclovir)
Clotrimazole-vaginal (Mycelex, Lotrimin)
Obviously not all of these apply to UTIs, but I know for a fact that amoxicillin can be used.
Infections in Pregnancy
A pregnant woman who develops a UTI should be treated promptly to avoid premature delivery of her baby and other risks such as high blood pressure. Some antibiotics are not safe to take during pregnancy. In selecting the best treatments, doctors consider various factors such as the drug's effectiveness, the stage of pregnancy, the mother's health, and potential effects on the fetus.

they may switch you to another anti biotic no way there is only 1 to treat you many sulfur based meds can be used 4 urinary tract infections. If the doc said they can't give you anything else after 35 weeks they may induce but there are also i.v MEDS they can put you in the hospital and give you I've heard being on anti biotic frequently can cause bacteria to became resistant to treatment. I would try some natural things to help like 100% cranberry juice and maybe call a whole foods store ask what diet changes you can make to improve this. WATER is a must there are many natural things you can do to lower the risk of infection or help clear one up. Some times you will have to get anti botics but the natural stuff would not HURT to try. If i even feel like my bladder is irritated i start forcing water and cranberry juice golden seal teas. I've been pregnant 4 times never a yeast infection or anything. 4 yeast you can use garlic and eat yogurts. You should not have to take anti botics the rest of the pregnancy there is no proof the infection will come back after being treated.

You could always try chugging cranberry juice like it's air, since elements in the juice can help to cure a bladder infection.

yes they will. That infection can put you in to labor yearly. The doctor will look at all of that. are they telling you that there is no medication for you to take after 35 weeks?

I'm not sure but the last 4 weeks of pg are the worst!!!! (41+ weeks right now) So if they do you will be welcoming it! Don't know if you have been induced before but it isn't that bad! :)

There are some antibiotics safe during the last trimester so they will probably switch you to another drug.
