MP3 Player suitable for home stereo...?

I'm thinking of purchasing an MP3 player for use as a stereo component (in the same way that my CD player is now). But the MP3 players all seem to have a headphone jack as their only output port. Do they make one with "line out" jacks? I want to plug the MP3 player into my amplifier, but don't want to use the headphone jack if I can avoid it.

Unless you absolutely have to have portability, use a media center. It has audio out jacks and will stream music from your computer.

Hi there, i have played songs on my mp3 player and also on my pocket pc thru an amp using the headphone jack. Plug the other end of the cable in the line in socket of your amp (or stereo) it should work. Keep the mp3 player volume down and control the volume on your stereo.

i hear what you're saying. if it's a home stereo use your p.c. and set the master volume at about 25%. new computers only> windows 98 second edition or higher with at least a pentium 3 or amd athalon or if you have a psp activate the avls feature which will make the headphone output level equal to a line out jack.

a head phone jack is just a specialized line out plug.
