My friend said that I don't need a 9-5 job and an asshole boss that will be mean to me. He asked me what happened to my idea about a career in real estate field and maintaining flexible hours being my own boss.

My husband thinks otherwise, he says there are too many real estate agents out there already and that I will be waisting my time.

What should I do?

First - do what you want, not what your friend or even husband says is right, but keep in mind who you live with at the end of each day, what you do affects him.
Now I think:
your hubby is right on this. Real estate is slipping fast. This is not the time to make that move, the market won't support it. However, given time it will recover and by then all the real estate agents who jumped on board 2 years ago will have jumped off. Maybe begin a career in real estate without being an agent. Work in the office, learn the field. Check out builders and developers also, start in their office, move to their sales office, then out on your own.

your husbands right, there are too many agents out there and the housing market is going down, youll make more money in office work, and not all bosses are assholes, there people like you and me. sounds like your friend is trying to cause friction between you and your husband. so if you respect your husband you may want to follow his advice, hes on your team.

You should do what makes YOU happy and stop worrying about others want you to do. All bosses aren't assholes, and very rarely treat their employees with anything other than respect. If you get one that IS an asshole, simply find a new job.

How about you sit down and think about what YOU want to do ... as opposed to what your acquaintance thinks you should do, what your husband thinks you should do and what a bunch of people on yahoo think you should do.
