bf calls me up to vent about his job.

he doesn't even work full time lately and his is complaining about working bc he wants to go home even though he needs the money

I say lets switch places, he can come and work all day and I can complain about the few hours that I work.

needless to say he got angry and he will be a real ray of sunshine to come home too.

should I have let him vent??? or was I right to let him know his lazy a needs to be working like everyone else

Everyone needs to vent. Some of the time, the reasons for which we vent may seem silly or irrational for other people. Yes, everything can be measured by comparison... but most of the time, we're not comparing ourselves to anything when we "vent", we just want to talk to someone. I mean, when it comes down to it, none of us in the glorious US of A has the right to complain - just think of what it would be like to live in a third-world contry (I grew up in one, I can compare). But we do, we all vent.

It's a different story if he IS lazy. If it bothers you - have you tried having a serious conversation with him about it? Does he listen? If he doesn't, then getting upset with him when he's had a bad day and wants to complain is not gonna do anyone any good. You chose him as a mate because of certain good qualities that he has (I presume). Well, laziness might be one of his bad ones. Eventually you will have to either accept it, or move on with your life; you can't make him change. And whom else can he vent to, if not you?

If he isn’t working full-time and isn’t going to school either, I think you are right to be upset about it, especially if he needs the money. He needs to grow-up and take some responsibility and he doesn’t need to be coddled. He was just being lazy, maybe next time try not being so tough about it, but more motivational?? Let him know it is not the right thing to do, and try to motivate him to stay at work

I think you should have let him vent and left it at that... he called the one person hoping to release some stress without catching any beef and you let him have it.

When you begin to wonder why he doesn't open up and share things in the future; remember this moment, because he certainly will.

I think you did and said the right thing. How many of us are at work because we like to work versus we NEED the money.

If he wont work, I think it may be a sign of your future. Maybe you should think about that.
