why can I turn on one parking light at a time?

I can turn on the left side of the parking light and the right side of the parking light at different times.

If it is a European spec car it is for parking on the side of the road. When you park you only turn on the parking light facing the street.

Maybe your car is broken, or you have a bad fuse.
