do you think it's fair that people get 2 points for answering a question without really answering it? like when people post " 2 points"??? shouldn't you only get the points if you really answer the question? i know i'm letting myself in for a series of "no, but i'll take my 2 points" answers, but i suppose that does answer the question!

prehaps a soloution could be that the asker of the question clicks yes or no next to the post to award points or not?

I agree with you, however the answers are all text. How can the computer know which set of characters (ie text) is an answer, and which is just nonsense?
To implement the idea of points for real answers, there would need to be another vote. Not only would people have to vote on the BEST answer, but they would also need to vote on ALL the answers - which are real, and which are bogus.
If you can find a solution, all the more power to you. Good luck.

i agree with you there. the points system should be upto the person who sets the question
best = 10
2nd = 8
3rd = 6
4th = 4
5th = 2
rest = 1 if they try to anwer the question.
Some of the answers i recieve are links to a google search that someone has posted, i could do that and not even bother asking other people. the idea of answering is to answer the question not place a stupid post that a 2 year old could do.

Why are you worried the points don't matter anyway they put them out there so people can always come back if there was no point system then not a lot of people will answer questions.

How about this: Let the questioner vote each answerer that answers the question then the answerer's get the two points.

not fair at all..but 2 points!!!! lol just joking...its definitely not fair...at least make some sort of valid attempt to answer the question, even if it is way off...especially if the person is losing 5 points for asking a question, you can at least gain 2 by giving them some respect and answering it...whats the odds of you helping me say....10 points?!?

If someone posts an "answer" with just "2 points," you can report them for point-gaming - and so can anyone else. The points will be taken away if Yahoo agrees.

You're being a little stingy with points. Maybe a thumbs down would take away one point.
The problem with either system would be the fact people would abuse it, making it unfair once again.

Problem is ...who is going to say who gets them and who does not, thats why the 10 point system is in place....Agreed some people are just point collecting, but perhaps they have nothing better to do!

In such case you people who question should mark the answer as the abuse one and report it to the yahoo ... else should leave it ...

People can report them as abusers. "Point Gaming" is a category of abuse that can be reported to Yahoo.
