Solve the proportion 400/1000 = 44/x. Simplify the left to 4/10. So 4/10 = 44/x. The 44 is 4•11, so x is 10•11 = 110.00

I know metric measurements can lead to brainfreeze. But what's cool about metric is that it's 10s based. A kilogram is 1000 grams. So if 4/10 kilo costs 44 dollars, you can easily solve this. (The hard work is solving these problems in our usual measurments).
$44.00 / .4 kilo
$11.00 / .1 kilo
$11.00 * 10 = $110.00 per kilo
good question. just remember the x10 explanation!

if 400g cost $44.00, 100g cost $11 (44/4)
100g are 1/10 of 1 kg so 11*10=$110.00

400 gms = 0.4 Kg
0.4 Kg = 44.00
0.4 Kg/4=44.00/4
0.1 Kg=11.00
0.1 Kg * 10 = 11.00 * 10
1 Kg = 110.00
