On Dec. 13 2001 I went to a clinic to have an abortion in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I didn't want to do it, my {fee on say} wanted me to, I was ready to be a mom, he wasn't.

I go throught the paper work, I go into the back to have the altra-sound so they can tell where the embreo is and was told by the technician that I should be 12-14 weeks pregnant but the embreo is only 6 weeks old, and that there is no heart beat, no indacation of the heart even developing. And that I would have probley miscarried within a few days anyway.

So I am then taken into the O.R. and they try to but the I.V. in so they can give me pain meds. But they can't find a vain, so they decide to give me gas instead. The doctor comes in and he and the nurse behind him start laughing. (I don't know why, but I really got the feeling is was because of the way I looked all spread out on the table.)

Anyway he starts doing the DNC (at this point that is what it is called since the embreo is dead) and the speculum hurts like hell (5 years later and I can still feel it when I think about it) and then he starts to open my cervex, that hurt worse then hell. The pain gas didn't help the pain at all, I blacked out for a couple of minutes from the pain, when I came to the doctor was telling me that he couldn't do the DNC 'cause I wouldn't stop bearing down on the speculum (Because of the pain).

From the time he walked into the O.R. till the time he gave up was 4 minutes. He didn't even wait for the pain meds (gas) to kick in before he gave up.

I was told to go home and they would make an other appointment for me. My period started on it's own a month later and when I told them this they cancelled my appointment.

Depending on how you look at it luckily/unluckily I was told by the person doing the ultra-sound that I have a severly twisted uterus and IF I am LUCKY enough to carry a child to 6 months it will probley turn its' self around to the correct possition. (So I found out that I may never have a child because of this condtion).

But the worse part of this experiance is the math:

30 girls a day have an obortion in that ONE clinic
X 245(356 days a year- 52 weekends-holidays)
X 11 (IF there is only ONE clinic per province)
= 80 850 Abortions per year in Canada per year.
