It is an old insult just like calling blacks the "n" word or Jews the "k" word. If I am not mistaken, and I could be, the calling of Americans "Yanks" or "Yankees" by the English/British actually started as a slang term and we decided to embrace it rather than be offended by it.
I will tell you that my mother, who is half German, is definitely a "square head" as is my brother, nephews, and son. My mother's father, who was full German, had a longer, oval face. However, there were some regions, years ago, in Germany that were predominately inhabited by families of the same line that were more prone to have the square shaped head.

They were Mayans who manipulated heads at birth but certainly not to make them square.
Many people belive germans are so strict in the wey they think, by following all the rules, ask any european about it.
I personally belive they are smart and far from being square heads.

your mother in law is a nut case!!! nothing like that ever happened!!! the only type of distortion on a babys head is now when a dr uses the suction thing to pull the baby out, which will cause the babys head to be kind of cone shaped for a couple of days to weeks.
tell your MIL to talk to her dr about a higher potency of whatever meds she is on

I doubt it, I live in Montreal, Quebec and that is what the French call the English here. I have no idea why they do, but I think they are trying to insult us.
