I have audio/music on my pc as WMA files. I burned them onto a CD, but it won't play in my car or other CD players. I used Windows Media Player to do this. Do I need special software or is it just a file conversion issue???? Please help.

When you go to burn the CD, make sure you are making it an "Audio" file, not a "Data" file. It is automatically set on data, so you will probably need to change it. I had the same problem, because data Cd's will only play on your computer. Audio Cd's will play in your car stereo and CD players. Hope this helps!

Could be many things. You need to make sure you are burning them as an Audio CD, there should be an option for this. If you put it into your drive and just see WMA files on it, it's not going to work. Also, a lot of older car players and some new ones do not like CD-R discs. It may just not work. Otherwise one thing to try is to burn at the slowest speed your drive will allow, this will help get a more consistant better "burn" into the writable media. some suggest using the special audio media, but I found those are even hit or miss.

Could be one of two issues. First, you may have burned the files in a format your car cannot read; I haven't burned a cd in a while, but I don't remember WMA being the standard codec. If it is the right codec, it may be that the car stereo laser isn't strong enough to read the burned disc, in which case buying a cheap but newer player will fix the issue. My guess is it's the WMA format is the issue though; try burning as a wav or cda file, they both play in most cd players that are less than 11 years old.

AIFF is what most CD Players use. You need to make an audio CD designed for a CD player.

I don't think Media Player will do that. In any event it is just a format thing. It took me a couple trys the first time. I've burned mine with Nero or Roxio or Sonic. You probably have one of those three that came with the computer or the burner.

Only super new cars can play .mp3s. I think .wma is proprietary and noone has players for it. You need to burn your discs as regular audio CD style files.
If you do that and still have problems, note that some car CD players have problems with some of the different colors of CD plastic...

make specific once you're burning your CD which you're making an audio CD. My CD participant can play MP3s so I burn my song as an information CD and that i exploit living house windows Media participant. i don't be attentive to why some CD's will play and others won't different than it must be your CD participant itself.

I'm far from an expert on this, but when I burn Cd's for use in one of my older cars I have to make sure that I'm not burning in an MP3 format. Older CD players won't play MP3s. That's what my problem always has been when my homemade stuff wouldn't play.

Older CD players don't play CD-Rs. If that's not the case, try a different CD Burning software like Winamp.

get a new car!

but seriously, make sure you've burned the cd as an audio cd and have finalized/closed it (i.e., you may get the warning "no further writing possible", or something to that effect). it might also be the case that your cd player in the car does not play homemade cd's.

As far as I know, CDs burnt with wma files will run only in MP3 players. Check if your stereo is capable of playing MP3 songs.
