Saat Phere shows Saloni a dark skinned Indian looking girl and her fate as part of a family which are light skinned, the mother preferring her son to the whole family and the sister to her. The synopsis says the story is about her as she battles against society stigma to become what she truly is. She often gets blamed or cursed for things or has suspicion placed on her and she often has to find her way out of things a bit like the A-Team.
This to me represents the struggle of a dark skinned girl in general in the business of TV because for most roles dramas in India aswell as South America the 'not looking indigenous' people take the parts in these ordinary family based dramas. Why is this? and does this represent the racial division in society at large?
