pregnancy tests are over 99% accurate and they usually err to the side of negative. If three of them say positive then most likely you are, the other possibility is an early miscarraige and you still have the hormone the test looks for in your system. Any way as for the Health Department, I think they go off first day of the last period. They would want to wait to talk to you until after you are late. Just go back in a week and in the mean time find a doctor if you don't already have one. Congrats!

I've heard of false negatives on hpt's, but false positives are rare. If you took 3 and they are all positive, then it sounds highly improbable that you are not pregnant. Many home tests can detect the hcg hormone up to 5 days before your scheduled period. Not every woman ovulates the same time every month. Perhaps you ovulated earlier and got pregnant earlier.
Did the health department do a blood or urine test? A blood test would be more accurate than any urine test. If they did a urine test, then it's likely that your tests were just more sensitive at detecting the hcg hormone than theirs.
If you used all the same brand hpt, I would get a different one and test the day you are due to start your period. Or, wait until then and have the health dept do another test.

I don't know any doctor that gives you the results same day from a blood test? You DO NOT have to miss a period for a test to work. They tell you to use it the first day after your missed period, but it isn't a requirement. Did they actually give you a test? If you took three test and they came back positive but the blood test is saying negative, I would have to go with the blood test as it is more accurate. Good luck.

If you took the test at the health department later in the day, it could be that the HCG was diluted and not detectable by their urine test. I would get a blood test done to make sure. Also, you do not have to miss your period to get a positive test. I took a test days before I missed my period and got a BFP.

It certainly sounds like you are pregnant. Those tests are accurate. Did you read the box carefully and do as it says? I hope this is good news, my friend. The doctor just may want to wait to take a blood test. Did you actually give blood when you went to the health dept?

Something like this happened to my friend. Every blood test came back negative. She went to three different doctors, b/c she knew she was pregnant. And in fact she was, but for some reason the test where negative, when she was pregnant. Her daughter is 16 years old now.

Honestly, that sounds weird as hell. Most people who are pregnant still may experience having their period for a another month. That's not a clear indication of whether your pregnant or not. I say get another opinion. Go to another health care provider and have them check again. Sometimes woman have things in their urine that makes their pregnancy test show a positive when they are not really pregnant. I still would go to another clinic and get checked. Have you had unprotected sex lately? Then that should answer your question.

Yes you are probably pregnant. Just wait until you miss your period and go back to the health department. The home pregnancy tests are able to confirm pregnancy early...

I was involved in a situation similar to yours. Reliable as they may be, EPT's are mass-produced. Whereas a test performed by a doctor is given individualized & special attention. The EPT's are reliable, but not as reliable as a blood test. If the test at the health department was a blood test, you should trust those results. Good luck, dear.

The health dep. is wack. If your period was lighter than usual, well then your most likely pregnant, since you said you've taken 3 pregnancy tests.
